Masteranaut Awarded Framework Contract With Powys Council

Powys Council has awarded Masteranaut, the UK’s leading telematics provider, a contract to provide a range of vehicle tracking and telematics services for its fleet of 450 specialist maintenance, logistics and construction vehicles.

The award of the contract is under a framework agreement and is one of the first of this nature to be signed. The agreement means that Powys County Council can now, for the first time, track vehicles such as gritters and gully emptiers and monitor their job status. Drivers and fleet managers can now see which roads have been visited by maintenance vehicles on an on-screen map and identify those which still need to be serviced. The new contract marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Masteranaut and Powys County Council to deliver a broad range of telematics-based services that is designed to deliver future improvements for the benefit of the council’s stakeholders.

Councillor Geraint Hopkins, Board Member for Fleet Management, Powys County Council said: “By installing GPS we can safeguard the staff driving the vehicle if they get into difficulties and we can also increase the security of our fleet from the risk of theft.

“We will also be able to carry out in-depth route reviews for all operations and collect asset information, which will help us further optimise the use of our fleet and increase our efficiencies.”

“The Masteranaut solution provides real-time management of Powys County Council’s mobile resources,” commented John Wisdom, Group Sales and Marketing Director, Masteranaut. “The reports produced by the system provide fleet managers with instant proof that maintenance work has been carried out and allows them to see which areas need further attention and why – data critical in public sector operations.”

Masteranaut has fitted each maintenance vehicle with a GPS tracking unit and a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) and has specifically designed this solution for councils to monitor all specialist vehicles, including gully emptiers and gritters.

“Powys County Council is the tenth local authority in Wales to take up Masteranaut telematics,” John Wisdom continued. “We now provide fleet tracking and telematics support to over 30 local authorities across the whole of the UK.”

Following the acquisition of public sector specialist Amatics Ltd one-year ago, Masteranaut has created a separate division of the business entirely devoted to the public sector and has produced a flexible, unique telematics solution for local councils that specifically meets their needs.

“Our success with local authorities in the last year clearly demonstrates Masteranaut’s knowledge and experience in delivering exceptional value and service to the local authority and public sector market,” John Wisdom concluded. “The award of a framework agreement like this is due to our targeted focus on this vital market sector.”
