Masternaut Customers Offest Rising Fuel Costs By Reducing Fuel Bills By Some 10 Percent In Just Three Months
To combat fuel costs that have risen by over 30pc in the past year, Masternaut, the UK’s leading online Telematics Service Provider, has announced that an increasing number of customers have reduced fuel bills by ten percent within the first three months of using Fleetstar-Online vehicle tracking.
Masternaut customers that have benefited from using Fleetstar-Online include Marshalls, which has articulated savings of around 15pc and UCS Plant, which has pulled back around 750 miles a week through the use of Masternaut’s advanced systems. Many transport businesses are now faced with total operating costs of up to £1.90 per mile.
Fleetstar-Online tracks fleet activity and enables businesses to see where they are being used inefficiently – for example, excessive vehicle idling periods, deviations from planned routes and matching mileage driven with fuel expenditure reports.
“We realise that rising fuel costs are probably the most significant pressure coming to bear on businesses this year,” commented John Wisdom, Sales and Marketing Director at Masternaut. “Fleetstar-Online has always carried significant business benefits and we have helped many organisations significantly reduce their operating costs while maintaining a high level of effectiveness. Reducing the impact that fuel has on a business is more essential now than ever and Masternaut can help to do that.”
Businesses can use the precise reports from Fleetstar-Online to implement best practices and meaningful business change that can generate immediate and significant cost savings. This can be complemented with Masternaut’s unique Data Analyser solution, which measures long-term trends and enables integration with routing, scheduling and back office applications.
“There are several areas that businesses can look at to fight rising costs,” continued John Wisdom. “The number one way to reduce fuel expenditure is to cut the number of miles travelled. One mile can cost an HGV operator anywhere from £1.67 up to £1.90 , depending on the vehicle type. When extrapolated across a whole fleet, it becomes easy to see how businesses can immediately cut operational cost. Other ways of saving on fuel costs include reporting on data lifted from emerging CanBus technology which gives companies precise visibility of engine and driver performance and enables driver education to optimise fuel usage.”
The Customer Perspective
Stewart Potter, Logistics Director, Marshalls Plc:
“We have achieved significant savings by implementing Masternaut’s fleet tracking system – around 15pc – we are now looking for a further reduction in fuel expenditure and resulting decrease in our carbon footprint by working on a strategic level with CanBus based management reports.”
John Tindall, Plant Director, UCS Plant Hire Ltd:
“Graphical mileage reports are already helping us to pull back around 750 miles per week through route planning – which has massively reduced our fuel costs and helped take six vehicles off the road.”
