Masternaut gives temperature recorder manufacturers frostbite
Leeds, UK, 22 January 2008 – Masternaut has launched an innovative solution for the live monitoring of temperature controlled distribution over the web. Called MasterCold, the system eliminates the need for conventional temperature recorders and dataloggers. Vehicle refrigerated units connect directly to Masternaut’s industry-standard Mobile Collection Unit (MCU) which incorporates GPS satellite tracking and continuous data communication.
MasterCold provides and continuous log of temperatures from up to four compartments. It also captures additional data such as defrost, set points, refrigerated unit meter readings, hours used and system diagnostic reports. A key feature of the system is exception reporting linked to live tracking data. This allows automatic alerts to be triggered if temperatures go out of range with managers immediately sent alerts and current vehicle location. These alerts are sent to via the web to any PC or web-enabled device, e-mail, or mobile phone using SMS.
MasterCold connects easily to Carrier, Thermo King and any other refrigerated unit. The Masternaut MCU, which is already fitted to 100,000 vehicles across Europe, is incorporated in a rugged waterproof housing suitable for fitting to the outside of the trailer. The solution will be EN12830 approved.
“Our temperature controlled fleet customers had been asking is we could add temperature monitoring to the Masternaut tracking and web service. That gave us the opportunity to look at the whole issue from a clean sheet and we realised we could simplify the whole system by eliminating traditional data recorders. This innovative one-box solution reduces costs, improves reliability and with the addition of auto-alerts and live tracking, should go down a storm in the market”. Says Martin Port, Managing Director of Masternaut.
